GHANA- 23 years old Ghanaian sprinter, Benjamin Azamati has set a new record in sporting history and set for Tokyo 2021 Olympics.
He sets up a new national record after making a time of 9.97s at Texas Relays breaking the 22-year-old 100m record of 9.98 set back in 1999 by held by former Ghana sprinter Leo Myles-Mills, to book a ticket to the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.
Azamati loves football but chooses athletics at Presbyterian boys senior high school in Accra.
Azamati at the age of 21 gave ghana hope as he participated in the GNPC 2019 Ghana’s Fastest Human competition and running 100 metres in 10.02 seconds HT. He emerged as an Olympic hopeful for Ghana in sprints.
The former student of the University of Ghana also broke Darell Green’s record set in 1983 making Ghana proud.
Born to John and Faustina Azamati in Akim oda, Ghana, Azamati won the gold medal at the 2019 African Games in Rabat and also GUSA 100m on two occasions.
Benjamin is currently in West Texas A&M University and won the 2020 Student-Athlete of the year for the Bucky Awards
