268 stranded Nigerians in China safely repatriated home

ACCRA, Ghana – Saturday, May 30, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/—Nigeria evacuates 268 stranded Nigerians from China. The stranded Nigerians arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja from China on Saturday 30, 2020.

The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa announced their arrival today.

According to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the 268 Nigerians would go through a mandatory quarantine for 14-days, a requirement by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

On 10th April 2020, a series of disturbing videos surfaced confirming maltreatment meted out to Nigerians and other African citizens in China. African citizens were forced out of their hotel rooms, and apartments to the street and restaurants refused to allow them entry to buy food.

A Nigerian diplomat in China, Razaq Lawal in a video was seen arguing with Chinese officials over racist maltreatment of Africans in Guangzhou.

According to Lawal, Nigerians and other Africans were kept in covid-10 quarantine longer than the normal 14 days.

African leaders condemned the attacks on Africans in China. Others also used social media to express shock and distaste over the racist maltreatment.
