Malawi president, Peter Mutharika, has established a special cabinet committee on COVID-19.
The country’s Chief Secretary to the Government, Lloyd Muhara, announced the development in a statement released Saturday saying the objective of the special committee is “to assess the impact of the COVID-19 and oversee a Cross-Government response to the threat posed by the disease”.
The cabinet committee is chaired by Minister of Heath and Population, Japie Mhango, and it has other 8 cabinet ministers as members.
Meanwhile, no case of COVID-19 has been recorded in Malawi.
However, the country’s immigration department has put strict measures in all borders while the ministry of health is monitoring every passenger coming from China and other affected countries for 14 days for signs of the COVID-19.
