Due to the adverse effect of coronavirus on business globally, Facebook has decided to offer $100 million in grants to small businesses across the globe meant to support 30,000 small businesses in over 30 nations where the social media company has employees.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook announced last week that Facebook would donate $20 million to fight the spread of COVID-19.
The effect of coronavirus on businesses cannot be underrated as businesses are closing down, workers laid off, and people being forced to work from the house.
Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg wrote in a Facebook post, “Small businesses are the heartbeat of our communities, and many of the people who run these businesses are heavily affected by the crisis — especially as more and more people sensibly stay home,”
“The longer the crisis goes on, the greater the risk to small businesses and to the livelihoods of their owners and employees.”
Facebook’s Business Hub is also open and available at no cost to everyone seeking training and assistance and will offer virtual training to small businesses on how to operate during the crisis.
