Accra, Ghana – Thursday, July 2, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ Deputy Trades & Industry Minister, Carlos Ahenkorah went to a registration Centres in his constituency in Tema West on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, knowing very well that he has Covid-19.

The Minister’s behaviour seen as reckless and a gross disregard toward the life of others and the vulnerable claimed that he wanted to observe how the process was going.

“I decided to see how some of the centres were just operating. So, I stepped out into town a bit. It didn’t mean I couldn’t go out. My test results had shown I was positive a week ago and after one week, my doctors said I could step out,” he explained.

“They [doctors] said I could go out, except that I needed to wear my mask and observe social distancing. I was very careful and very mature about it,” the Minister said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme.

“I’m very strong so I was shocked when people said I was in the Intensive Care Unit,” he added.

Ghanaians are expressing shock and disappointment toward Mr Ahenkorah for flaunting the law on social distancing and self-isolation.

Many Ghanaians believe his unpardonable action had probably caused him to infect many people he might have contacted. Other people are appealing to the government to make him face the law.

Some pastors and others have been arrested and prosecuted for flaunting the laws governing the fight against covid-19.

Ghana has recorded a total of 18,134 positive Coronavirus cases, 13,550 recoveries and 117 deaths.

Despite the alarming figure, the Government and the Electoral Commission has embarked on the voters registration exercise for the 2020 general election in December.

Pictures and videos from some registration centres show the protocols of social distancing and wearing of face masks clearly disregarded.
