GHANA- Tuesday, July 14, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ A junior high school in the Oti region has become the first JHS to record a coronavirus case since schools opened on Monday, July 29, 2020.
This was revealed by the Director of Public Health for the Ghana Health Service, Dr Badu Sarkodie, at a press briefing organised by the Ministry of Information on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
“The only reported JHS with a case is in the Oti Region. Just one. I think they [Junior High Schools] are probably adhering to the protocols more than the others,” he stated.
Dr.Badu Sarkodie, however, did not include the name of the school that had recorded the case.
Meanwhile, there have been several agitations to force the government to close down schools as the cases increase.
The Accra girls senior high school after recording only six cases now as at, July 13, 2020, has a total case count of 55. They have been joined by five other senior high schools in the Western Region.
