GHANA- Saturday, July 18, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ The nation’s premier university, the University of Ghana is causing a stir on social media as it has a population if its students thinking that the university is out to “fail”.
The University of Ghana has announced that students who have to resit examinations would have to write them in the school.
This news did not sit well with them as students have taken to social media to share their grievances.
A cross-section of the students say that the University is not complying with the term the president, Nana Akuffo Addo gave asking students to study from home.
A section of them has also said that it defeats the arguments for the University to conduct end of semester exams online, and ask them to return to school to write resit examinations.
A few students share their displeasure on Twitter.
A student wrote, “So this is a piece of evidence showing that the university of Ghana lecturers seriously wants to see us fail, this whole issue is nonsense cause we were made to write exams online and they expect us to come to school to write the supplementary exams#students lives matters”.
“There’s no uni more dedicated to making sure their students don’t succeed than the University of Ghana”. Another student also twitted.
“So after all that happened at Accra Girls, these institutions will not learn sense … The University of Ghana wants students to come to school to write their resits. Didn’t they write the end of sem exams online tho?”
The school, however, is set to hold its graduation ceremony online.
It is yet to respond to the grievances of students, and decide whether to pull through with the decision or otherwise.
On March 16, 2020, President Nana Akufo-Addo declared all schools closed effective Monday, 16th March 2020. In light of this, all school activities were moved to virtual platforms until June this year when all final year students were asked to return to school to complete their final exams.
