GHANA- Friday, August 7, 2020/– The ongoing 2020 WASSCE has been characterized by violence and chaos; the newest addition being a situation at Bright SHS in Akyem Kukurantumi.

Students of the institution have claimed that they are under mental trauma as external invigilators are too strict on them.

But for the immediate response from Armed Police Personnel from Akyem Tafo and Some Bureau of National Investigation personnel the school would have been in turmoil on Thursday.

The story was similar for students at the Only Believe Senior High Technical School who ransacked the school on Wednesday after the Social Studies paper and deflated the car tyre of one Mr. Acheampong, an invigilator.

Meanwhile some private senior high schools believe however that the intimidation on students is a ploy by the government to influence the performance of private schools.

“We are not happy about the deployment of many external invigilators to private schools on how they are intimidating our students. Psychologically it is affecting the students and we think it is politics just to influence performance of private schools to make it unattractive for Public Schools enjoying Free SHS to have glory”.

Several students across the country have expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing WASSCE. Some have taken to social media to attack the president for not helping them make the questions easier. Some have threatened to boycott the examination altogether while a few others have gone the extreme of attacking journalists and invigilators who they claim are too “strict”.
