Ghanaian musical duo, DopeNation after the release of a new song, has been accused by many industry folks of sampling Ghanaian Afrobeats musician, rapper, singer, producer and award-winning artiste Elom Adablah, better known by his stage name E.L style and erasing his relevance in the space.

Reacting to these claims, former Lynx signees DopeNation who were once upon a time proteges of E.L, say it is an honour to be described as artistes who copy from a great source. “Copying from E.L is copying from greatness”.

They added “he has done a lot for us as a role  model. He has influenced our music and has helped us to be better at music”.

“E.L is one of the big names in the music industry. And he represent greatness in music”. The musical duo praised him.

In an interview with Mzgee on New day today, they declined the statement of not being original musicians. “We can’t say we are not original.

They explained, ” look at what is going on in Ghana right now, we are taking things from great people in the past”.

According to them, Nigerians are also samples from their role models. ” Everyone looks up to someone and Nigerians are doing it. They are sampling old music and putting them into their current music and it’s working “.

DopeNation expressed their gratitude to E.L by explaining how he took them in when they were nobody.”We came from Takoradi, looking for someone to help us out in music. He took us in as his sons and modified our beat making skills and showed us couple of things”.

They stated that, they will keep learning from E.L while he is alive but not when he is dead. ” We don’t want to wait til E.L is dead before we learn from him. We will definitely learn from him as he is still around”.

They concluded by congratulating their work so far as musicians. “I think we are doing well”.
