France after battling the high spread of covid-19 during the early stages of global infection has again recorded the highest single-day infection since May lockdown.

The Health Minister Olivier Veran confirmed a high rate of infections on Monday. He stated that a spike of 4,897 new coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours can be stated to be the highest single-day infections ever.

“We have just exceeded our objective of 700,000 tests carried out each week, precisely 725,000,” Veran told Le Journal du Dimanche in a weekend interview.
“France is now doing more tests than Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, and The Netherlands. We can do a million tests if we need to.” Mr Olivier Veran stated.

Despite the highest single-day infections, the Minister refute it as a resurgence of the virus that took many lives in the early stages of the global spread in February despite announcing that the virus is spreading four times more among people under the ages of 40 years than 65.
He asserted, “No, it’s not the same as in February. This is not a resumption of the epidemic because it has never stopped. It was only checked during the confinement. The risk is that after you gently remove the lid from the pot, the water will boil again.”

France has confirmed total cases of 243,000, 84,950 recoveries and 30,513 deaths. Global cases stand at 23.4 million, 15.2 recoveries and 809,000 deaths.
