Pogba was due to be called to join the National team but when he tested positive for the virus, he was dropped out of consideration for selection, his spot taken by 17-year-old midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

Reports say that Pogba is asymptomatic but the positive on the test taken forces Deschamps’ hands to let go one of his key midfielders in order to protect the other players in the squad. For Pogba, this means that he will have to spend the next 14 days in isolation which will also his participation in Manchester United’s pre-season preparation for the English Premier League, beginning next week due to the extension they received as a result of their participation in the UEFA Europa League; a competition in which they reached the semi-finals.
