The German midfielder, Mesut Ozil was left out of Arsenal’s campaign last season by Mikel Arteta. His career at Arsenal was frozen in place since of last season but Ozil could be selected for their upcoming match against Fulham.
Ozil joined the English side in 2013 and has not played for the team since 7th March before the lockdown. He was left out of the squad along with Matteo Guendouzi for the FA Cup final against Chelsea; a match in which they won, When Arteta was asked why Ozil hasn’t’ been participating in matches, he replied, “Pure football reasons”. “My only ambition is the best squad and the best players who give us the best opportunity to win the game”.
However, Mikel Arteta, manager of the Gunners has vowed to wipe the slate clean for members of the team ahead of the new season. This could be the chance for Mesut Ozil to jumpstart his career for the Gunners. The German has returned to training with the first team with the squad. And he made an appearance in their last friendly against Aston Villa; a match which they lost, 2 goals to 3.
This indicates the possibility of Mesut Ozil’s participation in the League match to come. In a Twitter Questions and Answers session with fans, he was asked whether he was fit to play in the match against Fulham. Ozil confirmed that his body is in top condition and he is available for selection for Arsenal’s first match of the English Premier League against Fulham.
The question read, ”Hey, man, hope you doing well, are you fit to be played against Fulham?”.
He said, “I’m fit and ready and doing my best. Unfortunately, it’s not in my hands to decide about the squad on the weekend. We will see”.
