MALI- A 25-year-old Malian woman, Halima Cisse reportedly gives birth to nine babies, four boys and five girls in Morrocco.
Halima Cisse was flown to Morrocco by the Malian government for special health care and accompanied by a Malian doctor to Morocco.
Cisse was told to expect seven babies but doctors found two more babies during caesarian.
Cisse delivered all nine babies on Tuesday and are all in good health. A statement by the Malian health minister, Fanta Siby also indicated that the 25-year-old and all nine children “are all doing well”.
Nonuplets are extremely rare.
Per world records, a set of nonuplets, five boys and four girls were born in Sydney, Australia to Geraldine Brodrick and her husband Leonard on 13 June 1971. Unfortunately, two of the boys were stillborn and the last surviving of the babies, named Richard, died six days after birth.
Another set of nonuplets birth was recorded before Cisse was in Malaysia. Zurina Mat Saad gave birth to five boys and four girls on 26 March 1999. Sadly, all nine babies passed within six hours.
