In a joint statement issued by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), and Ghana Educational Service (GES), this development was made known after following the school’s first recorded case on July 6, 2020.
The number of affected persons was discovered after a total of 314 persons in the institution, were tested for the virus and 259 came out negative. All confirmed cases have been duly referred to the designated national treatment and isolation centres for management.
In a bid to control the spread of the virus, the government has outlined some actions taken so far. Some of which include, identification and segregation of contacts from other students, reduction of the number of students that attend dining at a particular time, enforcing of social distancing protocols, enhanced hand hygiene practices among other safety protocols.
The statement disclosed further that some other schools have also recorded “sporadic cases which have not experienced a surge.”
It further stated that similar COVID-19 protocol measures are being implemented in the respective institutions to prevent the further spread of the virus in senior high schools across the country.
