Dubai – Thursday, July 2, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ Famous Nigerian Instagram celebrities and alleged fraudsters, Raymond Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, Mr Woodbery and others have been handed over to the FBI and extradited to USA by Dubai Police.

Hushpuppi, Mr Woodbery and others were arrested in Dubai on June 10 on multiple fraud charges which shocked Nigerians, their social media fans and the world.

Hushpuppi, 38-year-old and 12 others were allegedly involved in online fraud that targets companies and individuals and wanted in Europe, the United States and Nigeria.

Hushpuppi and his accomplishes were responsible for Dh1.6 billion (about N169 billion) fraud involving over 1.9 million victims being one of the biggest fraud in recent times.

According to a senior prosecutor, “They would send out letters from email addresses almost identical to those of legitimate companies, targeting customers of these companies, with the purpose of diverting payments to themselves.”

He displays wealth including gold and diamond watches, expensive designer clothes, expensive phones, luxury cars like Ferrari and Rolls Royce, and a private jet to his over two million followers on Instagram.

However, items worth N15.845 billion (Dh 150 million) were seized from the gangs including 13 luxury cars worth N2. 640 billion (Dh 25 million), 21 laptops, 47 smartphones, 15 memory storage devices, 5 external hard drives and 800, 000 emails of potential victims recovered.
