Barely 24 hours after Femi Fani-Kayode apologized for his comments against a Daily Trust newspaper reporter, Eyo Charles who was attacked for asking ‘who was bankrolling his recent trips around Nigeria, a new video has appeared online revealing him shouting and calling another journalist “stupid” during his visit to Zamfara State.
Giving reasons for his action, Fani-Kayode claimed that, the reporter was sent by his political enemies to embarrass him.
Fani-Kayode was defended by his spokesman, Emmanuel Owabor in a similar video telling an unidentified reporter that the question he asked was “stupid” and “very insulting” to him.
“If I had known that this is what you wanted to ask me, I would have asked you not to ask me that kind of stupid question,” he added.
Like the Calabar incident, the former minister continued yelling at the journalist. Kayode prevented the reporter from clarifying himself by yelling at him continuously.
Just like he said in Calabar, the former minister reminded the journalist that he has been in politics since 1990; served as a minister twice; been a presidential spokesman for 3 years. “Was brought into politics by Marafan Sokoto, you understand me? Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi. “I have been a leading member of the opposition, the resistance over the last five years.” He explained to the journalist.
In the latest video, the former minister’s media, Owabor confirmed through his reaction that, the incident happened in Zamfara State in August after Fani-Kayode was bestowed with a traditional title in the state.
According to Mr. Owabor, the answers which was provided by Kayode to the journalist were horrible ones. “The reporter was asking why he (Fani-Kayode) was always against Yari, the former governor of Zamfara State; he was asking if he was sponsored or not to attack Yari,” Mr. Owabor told Premium Times.
“And a day has not passed that I have not spoken about what I felt was going wrong in this country. That is because that is what opposition is meant to do and is what was done to the PDP by the APC when PDP was in power. Do you understand me?” He asked the journalist if he understands his explanation. “Even for you to repeat that to me is insulting at my level,” the former minister told him.
“I will speak against Yari free of charge any day, anytime. I am FFK, do you understand me? “I take on presidents, I don’t take on former governors. He (Yari) is an irritant to me,” he said.
Femi Kayode is a Nigerian politician, essayist, poet and lawyer. He was a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was with the opposition’s All Progressive Congress (APC) until June 2014 when he returned to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
