ACCRA, Ghana – Saturday, May 30, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/—Cameroon was also hit by the covid-19 pandemic like other African countries. Cameroon after easing lockdown chose to open schools on June 1, 2020, the Prime Minister – Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute announced.
He added that strict measures will be enforced to prevent the spread of covid-19 and urged the ministers in charge of education to dialogue with the entire educational community including parent-teachers’ associations and the Teacher’s Union for successful activities to be undertaken.
”The resumption of classes, in all levels of education, as well as in professional schools and vocational training centres, will effectively take place on Monday, 1 June 2020, throughout the national territory,” Joseph Dion Ngute said late Friday.
On April 30, 2020, bars and restaurants were only allowed to open after 6 pm as measures taken by the government in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cameroon has recorded 5,436 covid019 cases, 3,326 recoveries and 177 deaths.
Other African countries like Ghana are also contemplating the reopening of schools amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, students and teachers are afraid of getting infected with the virus as Ghana has recorded confirmed 7,768 cases, 2,540 recoveries and 34 deaths.
