ACCRA, Ghana – Sunday, June 14, 2020/ https://africanpostonline.com/—Constituency chairmen of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Mohammed Ibrahim in the Northern Region on Thursday paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya in Tamale.
The caucus of eighteen chairmen congratulated the CEO on his appointment and also thanked him for the developmental projects in their various constituencies.
Leader of the caucus, Mohammed Ibrahim said “ the organization you now lead has been in a bad light for a long time before your appointment, it is therefore commendable that you have been able to speed up with projects under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) which forms part of the $ 1 million per constituency initiative by the government. We are glad that the authority appreciates the urgency of the time and the relief these projects bring to the region.”
He further commended the authority for the active collaboration with Chiefs, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), Members of Parliament, the Regional Coordinating Council and other key stakeholders for their commitment to the sustainability of the projects. He noted that the authority’s partnership with the media has put their work out there for the general public.
Mohammed Ibrahim was confident that the authority will deliver sustainable development in Northern Ghana. He added that the execution of the IPEP projects will urge the people of the region to renew the government’s mandate.
CEO of the Northern Development Authority, Dr Anamzoya thanked the caucus for their encouragement and expressed his excitement about their commitment to ensuring that the authority succeeds in the execution of the IPEP projects. He said the success of the IPEP will determine whether or not the government will continue to allocate funds for infrastructural development across the country. He urged the caucus to help monitor and safeguard the projects for the benefit of the people.
Deputy CEO in charge of programmes of NDA, Stephen Yir-Eru Engmen told the chairmen to propagate messages of peace to their constituents as instability brings developmental interventions to a standstill.
The caucus of constituency chairmen in the Northern Region believes that the authority can attract more government intervention and investments from the private sector.
The appointment of Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya as CEO of the Northern Development Authority comes after President Akufo-Addo relived Dr Haroun Majeed of his position in December 2019. Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya until his appointment was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon.
