GHANA- Tuesday, July 14, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ The board chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Professor Stephen Adei, has said that government’s move to force an annual leave on the Auditor-General, creates the wrong impression for its fight against corruption.
Prof.Adei expressed concern that some government institutions would feel the impact of his absence. According to him, Mr Domelevo is undoubtedly contributing significantly to “the fight against corruption but the impact on the institutions which we seem not be building over the years” is what bothers him.
Prof. Adei further explained that Mr Daniel Domelevo contribution has created a very good impression that he was making every effort to serve well in his outfit as Auditor-General. However, he says that despite his being asked to go on a six-month leave, according to the President’s orders, cannot be the deciding factor of success or failure of the anti-corruption crusade.”
Prof. Adei urged those involved in the plight of the Auditor-General to handle the situation and find a viable way to tackle corruption. He hopes that the Auditor-General will return to his role to continue the fight against corruption in the country.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General has been sued over Domelevo’s forced leave. Mr Johnson Akuamoah is serving in his stead as acting Auditor-General in the absence of Mr Domelevo’s has also been named a defendant in the case.
