GHANA- Tuesday, July 28, 2020/ https://africanpostonline.com/— The headmaster of Ejisu Senior High Technical School who locked two boys in his office overnight has been granted GH¢5000 bail by the court.
The two male students were locked overnight in the office of the Assistant headmaster for allegedly stealing stabilizers that belonged to the school. The students were reported by a taxi driver who said he saw the students jumping the school wall with the item.
One of the boys attempted suicide while in the headmaster’s office and was rushed to the hospital.
In a new development, the headmasterMr. Albert Kofi Appiah, was presented in the Juabeng circuit court and has been charged with assault and unlawful imprisonment.
His assault charge came on the back of the two students claiming he slapped them multiple times before locking them up.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges, but was charged GH¢5000 and one surety.
In a report by a Joy news correspondent, it was said that the other student who was locked up by the headmaster, Guggisberg Asameti was jailed for a day and faced charges of conspiracy to commit crime, stealing and unlawful entry.
The student who was not represented by a lawyer pleaded guilty to all charges without a proper understanding of them.
He said that they were only returning the stabiliser and not stealing it. His guilty plea charge was then changed to not guilty.
Meanwhile father of other student who attempted suicide says his son collapsed again after he learned he was wanted in court on the charge of attempted suicide thus he was not fit to attend trial.
He is however not linked to the theft charge, and has only been charged with attempted suicide.
