Ethiopia confirms first coronavirus case

Ethiopia has today 13th March 2020 confirmed its first case of the new coronavirus.

According to Takele Uma Banti, the mayor of the capital Addis Ababa, a Japanese citizen was the person affected.

Ethiopia is the latest African country to confirm COVID-19 after Ghana

The Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu confirmed two cases of coronavirus infections in Ghana on Thursday 12th March 2020. The patients returned from Turkey and Norway.

Other affected countries are after Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt, and Burkina Faso, Togo, South Africa, Morocco, DR Congo, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Algeria.

However, Nigeria is coronavirus free as the second patient has fully recovered and released from isolation after testing negative. This was confirmed by the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire.
