A truck transporting beer on the Accra-Tema motorway was involved in an accident which has resulted in the death of one and has injured four other persons in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Eyewitnesses at the scene say an incoming truck loaded with club beer came to an abrupt break as a result of the light rain showers at dawn which made the road very slippery. After the loaded truck halted, some 15 other vehicles also crashed into it.
The situation caused a heavy traffic on the stretch.
Unfortunately, a bus conductor who was trying to block the wheels the he was aboard bus got run over by another approaching vehicle, which was unable to stop due to the slippery nature of road leading to the loss of his life on the spot.
Residents living around the accident scene, who volunteered to assist could not help but treat themselves to the beer that had fallen off the accident truck turning the entire scene into a booze frenzy.
The locals took advantage of the situation since they weren’t paying for the crates of beer on the scene and treated themselves to several bottles of beer.
The growing spate of accidents on the Accra-Tema motorway stretch has been as a result of poor lightening on the stretch. Drivers who ply the stretch have complained severally about the situation yet there hasn’t been any changes.
