GHANA- Saturday, July 18, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ Finance Minister Ken Ofori – Atta is to present the mid-year review and supplementary budget to parliament on Thursday, July, 23.
It is expected that the presentation will roll out plans for the implementation of the Covid-19 alleviation programme which is aimed at fast-tracking the recovery of the economy.
The finance minister will also use the opportunity to explain how the government intends to repay the loan it took from the contingency fund due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Parliament granted the government’s request of 1.2 billion cedis from the fund to finance the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme (CAP).
The aim of CAP is to reduce the impact of Covid-19 on economic activities and revive companies that have collapsed as a result of the pandemic.
This mid-year review precedes the 2021 budget statement to presented to parliament in November ahead of the 2020 election.
