Gas explosion near a school in Lagos kills at least 15 people

Sunday morning gas explosion at the Abule Ado area in Lagos has claimed the lives of about 15 people.

A video shows the blazing fire with thick smoke and rescuers assisting school children of Bethlehem Girls College, a boarding school to escape whiles carrying some who were injured.

Among the dead are a couple and their three children caught in the explosion in their vehicle on their way to church.

According to SaharaReporters, about 50 buildings in the area were destroyed in the fire.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said the explosion that occurred was caused by a truck that hit some gas cylinders in the area.
