ACCRA, Ghana – Saturday, June 13, 2020/ https://africanpostonline.com/—The Health Minister of Ghana, Kwaku Agyeman Manu tested positive for covid-19 and is currently receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre.
The Health Minister is reported to have been admitted on Tuesday and is in a stable condition.
Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has been active in the fight against covid-19 in Ghana and was recently elected to serve on the Executive Board of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Covid-19 has infected some parliamentarians and staff in Parliament. However, report from parliament indicate that some infected members are refusing to stay away and self isolate and quarantine.
Covid-19 has infected government official including the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Papa Owusu Ankomah, the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Anthony Kurentsi Sam who unfortunately passed. On the African Continent, President Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi succumb to the various and is the first African President to die of the deadly novel coronavirus.
Ghana has recorded 11,118 covid-19 cases, 7,091 active cases, 3979 recoveries and 48 deaths.
Despite the increasing figure which is scaring Ghanaians, the government has ease lockdown and restriction of movement to the extent of opening schools for final year students to write exams, religious bodies like churches and mosque to worship with a limited number of 100 people and 100 people to attend funerals.
However, the borders of Ghana are still closed and social gathering in large numbers still enforced.
