GHANA -Ex-President JJ Rawlings has responded to matters arising out of ‘Working with Rawlings’, a book published by Kwamena Ahwoi.
The Former President reveals that he finds it tiring and tedious to be engaging in self-defence when he has given his all, all these years.
Even though Dan Abodakpi, has decided to defend Rawlings, the former president has decided to break the silence and speak for himself. He twitted, “I will soon deal with the callous agenda of bile by the likes of Kwamena Ahwoi.”
Some Ghanaians asserts that ‘Working with Rawlings’, is meant to tarnish the image and legacy of Rawlings whom most Ghanaians appreciate for championing the cause of democracy in Ghana.
According to Dan Abodakpi, Chairman for the Volta Regional Council of Elders for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ahwoi’s book cannot destroy the legacy of Rawlings, as he told Ahwoi that he is wasting his time.
Dan Abodakpi also claims that the book is an attempt to discredit the political legacy of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
Dela Kofi who reviewed ‘Working with Rawlings’ believes that the book is welcomed especially when its author has been so closely involved with the politics of Jerry Rawlings. He continues to state that, however, readers with a grain of sense and deductive reasoning will feel, on closing the last page of the book, a little disturbed by its main thesis, which appears to be that of ridicule to discredit the agenda against Rawlings and destruction of his political legacy.
Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi is a Ghanaian politician, who was politically active, famous and a leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government under the reign of Jerry Rawlings.
Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi served during the reign of Jerry Rawlings as Minister for Local Government and Rural Development from 1990 to 2001 in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government and also as Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1997.
Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi revealed in his book that he is no more friends to Rawlings because of Rawlings’ relentless criticism of the late Prof. Mills whiles as President, and also how he refused to heed to the decisions of Rawlings in bringing down Prof. Mills in the 2008 elections.
