The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has cut the sod for the construction of a 40-bed hospital in the Ashanti region.
It was part of his activities as he begun a two-day working visit to the Ashanti Region today.
Kick starting his visitHon. Agyeman-Manu paid a visit to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah at his residence.
He later proceeded to the residences of the District Chief Executive for Atwima Kwanwoma District, Hon. Nana Okyere Tiwah Antwi, where he met with the Member of Parliament for the Area, Hon. Kojo Appiah Kubi and other government officials.
As part of his tour, the Health Minister broke the ground for the commencement of construction work on 40-Bed Hospitals in the Region.
Hon. Agyeman-Manu said the project is “a fully functional 40-bed Hospital to be developed on a Turnkey basis by one of the most experienced Contractors in the World, VAMED Engineering GmbH of Austria”.
The hospital project is part of 12 hospitals being constructed by Vamed Engineering and it’s expected to be completed in 24 months.
According to Him. Kwaku Agyemang Many the facility will cost €80 million.
Speaking at the ceremony, The Atwima Kwanwoma District Chief Executive, Nana Okyere -Tawia Antwi appealed to the minister to help upgrade the Foase and Trabuom Health Centres into 20-bed capacity polyclinics.
The Chairman of the ceremony, Baafour Agyei Fosu Twitwikwa, Otumfuor Anantahene, applauded the government for the hospital project and pleaded their assistance.
