ACCRA, Ghana – Tuesday, May 19, 2020, /https://africanpostonline.com/ –-Tanzanian in the midst of COVID 19 has reopened its flight for International flights which was closed on April 12, 2020, due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The announcement was made by Isack Kamwelwe, the Minister for Works, Transport and Communications on Monday after president Magufuli on Sunday said statistically, COVID-19 infections have been dropping as informed by the health centres treating COVID-19 patients in Tanzania.
“As long as their body temperature doesn’t point to anything unusual, I will allow them to proceed and view Tanzania’s wildlife without being quarantine.’ President Magufuli stated.
Kamwelwe announced that business, humanitarian, diplomatic, emergency and other special flights are permitted to fly into Tanzania as it was before. In view of the announcement, Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) has since been ordered to inform the International Civil Aviation Organization about President Magufuli’s decisions to reopen the skies of Tanzania to International flight.
National carrier Air Tanzania Company Limited has also been advised to arrange in order to resume its international flights to various countries.
He also directed the Tanzania Airports Authority and the Kilimanjaro Airport Development Company Limited have been ordered to work with the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children in rendering service to flights coming into Tanzania.
