It seems Arsenal’s and several clubs bid for the Atletico Madrid midfielder, Thomas Partey will not push through following the comments he has made.
Arsenal is known to be the frontrunners of all the bids made for the Ghanaian midfielder. Their initial bid was declined by Atletico Madrid as they were unwilling to let go of their star midfielder. Again, Partey’s did not show any interest in renewing his contract with his club, and so this gave other clubs the hope that they could trigger his $50m release clause so they can obtain the player.
But the comment he has made early on today suggests that Partey has no intention of leaving Atletico Madrid. In fact, it is believed that his stay might go beyond his current deal. Thomas Partey wants to win trophies and be remembered and acknowledged as a legend of Atletico Madrid like Koke and Gabi.
According to Partey, he wants to play football so well that people will sing his name like Fernando Torres, Gabi and Koke. His first for Atletico Madrid was what inspired him and he hopes that one day, his football will attract people’s attention onto him. “I remember the first game I played, everybody was shouting and I wasn’t used to it. From there, I said to myself, I have to continue playing well to attract more attention because I kept on hearing names like Fernando Torres, Gabi and Koke.” The fans were always singing their names. I said one day I hope they will be able to sing my name”, he said.
“I don’t see myself as a key player yet because I have a lot of important players ahead of me.” “My dream is to be able to reach a higher level than them, to be able to archive something they have never achieved with this team. It is not easy but I am sure with hard work, everything will be Ok”.
Partey was in the stands during last nights Champions League Match against Leipzig due to his injury, even though he was named in the matchday squad; a match they lost in 2-1 defeat.
