According to a report by Telegraph on Sunday, Britain was forced to send 50,000 samples of coronavirus tests to the United States to be processed after a problem at one of its laboratories.

It has been reported that the test samples were sent on chartered flights to the US last week.

The housing minister Robert Jenrick said: “There was an issue with one of the labs and we put in place our contingency plan, which was to take some of the tests to the United States for the tests to be processed. That was exactly in line with the detailed plans the Department for Health had made in advance.”

The UK has 215,264 confirmed cases, 31,587 deaths and no recoveries. The UK has the highest Covid-19 deaths in Europe. This has called for an inquiry into the handling of COVID-19 in the UK.

WHO reports that most countries around the world have seen cases of COVID-19 and many are experiencing outbreaks while some countries like China have been able to slow down the outbreak.

3 917 366 cases have been confirmed globally with 274 361 confirmed deaths according to WHO.

Meanwhile, PM Boris Johnson is set to address the UK at 7 pm through the TV on lockdown imposed on March 23 ‘exit strategy’ and a ‘stay alert’ advice. However, this was received with mixed reaction as Mr Johnson posted a fuller explanation in defence on twitter detailing that people are still being urged to ‘stay at home where possible’ and ‘stay alert’ when they do go out.
