GHANA- On behalf of the University of Ghana the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with his counterpart of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Prof. Csaba Gyurica. The MoU is aimed at increasing the number of Ghanaian science students in the Hungarian University and strengthening the relationship between Ghana and Hungary.

According to Prof. Csaba Gyurica, Agriculture is an important area for Hungary; and that informed the decision to collaborate with the University of Ghana on a joint degree programme in tropical and sub-tropical agriculture aimed at building professional capacity for the future.

Professor Ebenezer Owusu Oduro was pleased with the partnership and is hopeful that it would go a long way in resolving the agricultural deficiencies facing the two countries, especially in the areas of crop genetics, livestock improvement, post-harvest technology, plant growth and development, plant pathology and disease control, and the environment. He emphasized the importance of food security, and the need to exploit rural economics, agricultural digitization, and precision farming to modernize agriculture.
