President Akufo-Addo in his State of The Nation Address Yesterday, Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Parliament House stated that Volkswagen, one of the biggest car manufacturing companies in the world will commence production of by the end of April 2020 in Ghana. “VW is building its plant at the North Industrial Area in Accra, and is due to start production by the end of April,” the President said.
The President and the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel during her official visit to Ghana on Thursday, August 30, 2018, reached the trade agreement.
President Akufo-Addo further stated that Toyota, the Japanese automotive manufacturer, the second-largest automobile manufacturer in the world, behind Volkswagen, based on 2018 unit sales will also commence the assembly of vehicles in Tema in the last quarter of this year. “Sinotruk has begun assembling its trucks. Toyota is scheduled to start the assembly of vehicles in Tema in the last quarter of this year. We have high hopes for this new industry, which has come to join our own Kantanka.”
Toyota’s corporate structure consisted of 364,445 employees worldwide and, as of December 2019, was the tenth-largest company in the world by revenue. Toyota was the world’s first automobile manufacturer to produce more than 10 million vehicles per year, which it has done since 2012 when it also reported the production of its 200-millionth vehicle.
