ACCRA, Ghana – Tuesday, June 9, 2020/ https://africanpostonline.com/—The Director of the NMIMR, Professor Abraham Kwabena Annan, told the Daily Graphic that The Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) of the University of Ghana had set up a platform to test herbal medicines for COVID-19 treatment.
According to Professor Abraham Kwabena Annan, the institute has received some local herbal medicines already which will be tested and handed over to the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
Professor Abraham Kwabena Annan is optimistic about the herbal medicines and believe that some of them may provide results and stated, “there is a lot of hope because we have received a number of local medicines that are being screened for COVID-19 treatment”.
Ghana has already received Covid-Organics, a herbal cure for Covid-19 developed in Madagascar and according to the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong- Nkrumah, the herbal cure was being tested. This he tweeted on May 19, 2020.
However, The World Health Organization (WHO) has not given Madagascar support and caution against the herbal medicine which led to Madagascar leaving the WHO.
