Accra, Ghana – Friday, July 3, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ The Deputy Minister for Trades & Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah has resigned effective today July 3, 2020, after Ghanaians called him out for visiting registration centres despite acknowledging that he contracted COVID-19.

President Akufo-Addo wrote that he has accepted his resignation in a letter cited by Africanpostonline.com. The President asked the Minister to resign or be sacked for breaching the covid 19 protocols.

The Minister choose to resign and the President in the letter stated that for him to have accepted the resignation means he acted honourably.

To Ghanaians, the President’s statement and his resignation are unsatisfactory as he has likely infected Ghanaians and put many at risk for his behaviour deemed, reckless, selfish and unpardonable.

Ghanaians are therefore calling for him to be prosecuted just like other Ghanaians who have been sentenced for four to ten years for breaching the covid-19 regulations.

The Minister on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, left the covid-19 isolation centres to mingle with people in his constituency in Tema West.

The Minister who claims he is asymptomatic said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen that he decided to see how some of the centres were operating. So, he stepped out into town a bit. It didn’t mean he couldn’t go out. His test results had shown he was positive a week ago, and after one week, his doctors said he could step out.
