ACCRA, Ghana – Monday, June 29, 2020/ https://africanpostonline.com/—The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, who recently recovered from Covid-19 has started touring treatment and holding centres under construction in the Greater Accra Region.
According to the Ministry of Health, the centres are at the Shai Osudoku Hospital, Dodowa, Pantang Learning Centre, Pantang, Ga East Municipal Hospital, Kwabenya and the 37 Military Hospital.
His first port of call is the Shaidoku District Hospital where he was welcomed by Dr Kennedy Brightson, Medical Director of the facility.
Dr Brightson conducted the Health Minister round the hospital.
President Nana Akufo-Addo earlier on in his eighth address to the Ghanaians announced the construction of 88 districts hospitals across the country.
“There are 88) districts in our country without district hospitals; we have six (6) new regions without regional hospitals; we do not have five infectious disease control centres dotted across the country; and we do not have enough testing and isolation centres for diseases like COVD-19. We must do something urgently about this. That is why the Government has decided to undertake a major investment in our healthcare infrastructure, the largest in our history. We will, this year, begin constructing 88 hospitals in the districts without hospitals,” he said.
Ghana has confirmed 16,742 covid-19 cases, 12,720 recovered and 112 deaths.
