GHANA- Tuesday, July 21, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has revealed that the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof. Kwasi Opoku Amankwa is engaging the West African Examination Council (WACE) to organize supplementary exams for students who have been infected with Covid-19.

In an interview with Ghone news, Dr. Yaw Adutwum said 112 students have been isolated and are responding to treatment.

Over 300,000 students from Monday, 20th July are expected to sit for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

This year’s candidates are the first beneficiaries of the Free SHS programme and the government has covered all fees concerning the exams.

However, many students, parents and public figures have protested the reopening of schools for these students due to COVID-19 and the high rate of infections in Ghana.

It has been confirmed today that twenty-five students of Mawuli School are currently in isolation after testing positive for the novel coronavirus

The government, however, insists that they have put in measures to mitigate covid-19 infections in the schools and will ensure the safety of the students.
