Adding his voice to recent malpractices noted in the ongoing West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations, The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum has called on the West African Examination Council to sit up in combating such acts.

Speaking on Eyewitness News last night, Dr. Adutwum called on the examination body to find modern means of deterring malpractices.
He noted that “why are they not using 21st-century means of stopping leaks and cheating forever? I think they are going to have to sit up”.
Some subject papers in the ongoing examinations were leaked prior to the Examinations. The papers were Integrated science, Core mathematics, and Chemistry practical papers.

Following the leakage, the minority in parliament, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), called for the cancellation of the said papers.

The African Education Watch also accused the examination body of discrediting the examination as details of examiners were leaked.
The leaked list contained details of the examiners’, schools, subject areas, telephone numbers, and email addresses.

Some bodies like the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) also called for an independent body to be set up to probe into the malpractices and leakage of details of the examiners.
