Seven arrested over murder of teacher trainee

The Ghana Police Service says they have arrested seven persons suspected to have taken part in the murder of Silas Wulochamey, a teacher trainee at Banda in the Bono Region.
Police say that details of the arrested suspected would be provided to the public as soon as possible.

Silas, a 28-year old graduate teacher trainee from the Methodist College of Education at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region, was suspected to have been stabbed to death on Monday, July 13, 2020.
Silas was alleged to have been caught between a disagreement between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at a voter registration centre in Banda.

According to his grandmother, he was returning from a visit to his pastor at Wenchi when the incident happened.
Following the incident, his grandmother gave the police a two week ultimatum to bring the offenders to justice.

The Youth WIng of the NDC threatened days after the incident that that it will conduct citizen’s arrest of persons involved in the killing Silas.
““Up till date the killers of Silas have not been arrested. We demand within 72 hrs the apprehension of those who killed him else we will take action by ourselves to look for the hooligans,” said the National Youth Organiser of the NDC, George Opare Addo.
There have been other misunderstandings at various polling centres following the incident of Silas Wulochamey.

Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson admitted to firing gunshots at a registration centre in her consistency.
Four persons arrested in connection with the event have been released on bail.
Police say however that it is yet to call the Member of Parliament in for questioning.
