GHANA- Thursday, August 6, 2020/– Some students after the Integrated Science paper last Monday, August 3, 2020, threatened to boycott the examination as they claimed questions that were given to them were different from the past questions provided by the Akufo- Addo government.
In light of this, Public relations officer of the Education Ministry, Vincent Ekwow Assafuah has said that it was unthought of for students to expect same questions as given in the government-provided past questions.
He said that, “how on earth will anybody think that these questions are supposed to be the exact same ones in the past questions?”.
Speaking in an interview today, he explained that government’s intention behind sharing the past questions was to “provide the individuality gap between the rich and poor. If a rich man could by past questions for his child for him to see the shape and form of the exams, what will happen to a poor man’s child whose parents can’t afford these past questions,”
Commenting on videos that have recently taken social media by storm of students verbally abusing the president, Mr. Assafuah said that “sometimes in every school there might be some students who may be a bit wayward and that is what is in that video but how did we get here?”
Several students have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the just begun WASSCE. According to the students the questions given them are too difficult and invigilation is strict.
In a recent development however final year students of the Tweneboah Koduah Senior High School in the Ashanti region have apologized for vandalising school property after their exam on Monday.
In a newly released video the students, led by one male have apologized to the school authorities.
“On behalf of the entire students, I want to apologise first to the entire teaching staff, non-teaching staff, assistant headmaster, District Chief Executive, District Police Commander, Education Directorate and our dear headmaster. We are very sorry,” he said.
