GHANA- Wednesday, July 29, 2020/ https://africanpostonline.com/— The Chairman of the Audit Service Board Dr Edward Duah Agyemang says the board is “fed up” with Domelevo’s constant rush to the media to give updates on happenings.

President Akufo-Addo asked Daniel Domelevo to take his accumulated annual leave on Monday, June 29, 2020. The leave which began on July 1, 2020 was expected to span for a period of 123 days but was later extended to 167 days to include his 2020 leave days..

The presidency explained that the move was in accordance with sections 20 (1) and 31 of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).

In a recent development, Mr. Demelevo was locked out of his office on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 as the locks had been changed when he went to collect some documents from his office.

Speaking to Starr FM this morning however, Chairman of the Audit Service Board Dr Edward Duah Agyemang says that the move was to ensure safety of his office.

He further stated that it was needless for Domelevo to run to the media to feed them with happenings from the office.

“What’s this with Mr. Domelevo always running to the media. Is he a baby? We are fed up with Domelevo always going to the media. He can go wherever he wants to. When Mr. Domelevo left on the 1st of July, the board felt there was the need to secure his office so the locks were changed and the keys were left where they belong,” he stated.

Anti-Corruption campaigner Vitus Azeem opines that it was “unfortunate” for his locks to be changed and the move for the government to make Domelevo proceed on leave was a ploy to get him out of office.

“It’s a bad perception. Coming from a president who said he was going to fight corruption and was tagged incorruptible by his people but unfortunately, personal interest supersedes national interest. But the way and manner Mr. Domelevo was asked to proceed on leave showed they want him out of the way and they are having a field day. For them to change locks to Mr. Domelevo’s office is very unfortunate. I don’t think it’s the best approach and it’s a dent on the image of the A-G’s office,” he explained.

Following the request, various groups called on the presidency to rescind his decision but in a letter dated July 13, 2020 and signed by the secretary to the president Nana Bediatu Asante, it was stated that “the arguments made in your petition were considered prior to the President taking the decision to request Mr. Daniel Domelevo to take his accumulated leave from 1st July, 2020. Accordingly, the President is unable to grant the request in your petition”.
