Black is King celebrates Black resilience, tradition & culture, including the unique beauty, fashion and way of life of Africans. A part of Black is King depicts the crown seen in Beyoncé’s sorry music video, the Black is King visual inspired by a practice called Lipombo, a custom skull elongation which is seen as a status that denotes beauty, intelligence & power among Congo’s Mangbetu people.

The film is a story for the ages that informs & rebuilds the present. A reunion of cultures & shared generational beliefs. The voyage of Black families, throughout time, is honoured in a tale about a young King’s transcendent journey through betrayal, love & self-identity. A story of how the people left most broken have an extraordinary gift & a purposeful future.
His ancestors help guide him toward his destiny, and with his fathers teachings and guidance from his childhood love, he earns the virtues needed to reclaim his home & throne.
