Chelsea Completes Malang Sarr’s Deal

The Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the completion of the signing of French defender, Malang Sarr who is fated to spend the upcoming season away on loan. The 21-year-old player has left the Ligue Club, Nice following the end of his contract for the side and has now signed a five-year deal with Chelsea.

According to Chelsea’s Official webpage, the loan is meant to provide the chance for Sarr to gain valuable game time and add to his experience so he will be ready to join the Chelsea squad. Marina Granovskaia, the Director for Chelsea upon signing Sarr said, “The opportunity to sign Malang was one we could not miss. He is a tremendous prospect and we will be monitoring him closely during his loan period, hoping he will soon be back to Chelsea. We are very happy to welcome him to the club today”.

Sarr’s transfer becomes the fourth for Manager Lampard in his attempt to build a formidable team for the Premier League for the coming 2020/21 season. Sarr is headed to Bayer Leverkusen in a loan switch for the signature of their wunderkind, Kai Havertz for the Blues. Leverkusen is believed to be interested in Sarr and could be set to demand his service as part of their negotiations with Chelsea for Havertz.

Sarr has played for Nice ever since he was boy, managing to make the first team at the age of 17. He first goal for the first team was on his debut against Rennes in August 2016; a goal that ensured their victory against Rennes.

He has appeared 119 times for the French side and has scored three goals before the end of his contract for Nice. He was signed by Chelsea on a free transfer. He is a centre-back but he can play on the left of a back three and a left-back. Sarr is six-foot, promising to be a formidable defender and attacker in the air.
