The English Football Club, Chelsea has completed the signing of centre-back, Thiago Silva on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with the French side, Paris Saint-German (PSG). Thiago Silva is joining Chelsea on a one-year contract with the option of staying for another 12 months. Silva, who turns 36-years in the coming month will be playing a relatively big role in strengthening the backline of the Blues towards the upcoming season campaign.

Being the fifth signing of Manager Lampard for the 2020/21 season, this is the first time Silva will be playing in the Premier League. To this new challenge, he said “I am so happy to be joining Chelsea. I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad for next season and I am here to challenge for honours. See you soon Chelsea fans, I look forward to playing at Stamford Bridge very soon”.

The Blues conceded a lot of goals at the end of last season’s campaign and Manager Lampard hopes to put an end to that by signing Thiago Silva together other players. Looking at the how congested the fixture list is, Thiago Silva is not expected to play in every match but he is at least expected to be present in significant matches that can define Chelsea’s position in the Premier League and Cup games to come this season.

The tales of the exploits of Thiago Silva reached the world at Milan and then he joined PSG in 2012 for a transfer fee for €42 million. Silva grew as a defender at PSG and was eventually appointed as captain. He has won seven Ligue 1 titles, five Coupe de France crowns and has won Coupe de la Ligue on six times.
