A worrying picture circulating on social media depicting fisher folks fishing plastic waste instead of fishes is beginning to spark and revive a conversation on what the priorities of our leaders are.

Some concerned Ghanaians are questioning our leaders on the effective usage of research and development funding from donors.

Others, on the other hand, are raising concerns on the role of journalists in helping to address the issue.

A concerned citizen Alain Gbeasor who shared the picture on Facebook sought answers to how to comprehensively deal with what he describes as a mess. “What are we banning? Should producers of these beverages be surcharged to clean? Where are our dustbins?” he queried.

He further probes, “Can there be a reward scheme to return packaging bottles which will in turn boost recycling companies in Ghana?”
