Global smartphone manufacturing company, Huawei may have issues with its customer base in the United States of America after its temporary license to operate in the country expired. Since the expiration of the license on August 13, the company has not officially addressed the matter at length.

However, responding to a customer’s question on whether software updates will affect existing phones with Google services in the near future, the company said the recent development will in no way affect existing devices. The Chinese telephone manufacturer assured its users that it will continue providing updates to all of its existing devices.

Nonetheless, it is unknown if existing Huawei phones with Google Mapping Services (GMS) will receive updates in the future for Google apps and services. This is because they are usually rolled out directly by Google and in this case, Huawei has no license to conduct business with the company.

The Operating System and security updates being referred to in the tweet may be what the company can get on the Android Open Source Project. The company is expected to issue an official statement to clarify its plans in the coming weeks. Google, on the other hand, is yet to also issue any statement on the issue.
