He was met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport by the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Prof. Aaron Michael Ocquaye.

The two speakers are expected to hold talks on matters pertaining to relations between the two countries following the implementation of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act 2013, Act 865.

Prof. Ocquaye welcomed the Nigerian delegation to Ghana stating that the two nations are like “the tongue and teeth, although they may offend each other, they also derive great pleasure from the benefit of co-existence”

He added that it is important that the good relations between Ghana and Nigeria are maintained at all times. Prof. Ocquaye is hopeful the next two days will be mutually beneficial for the two nations and further strengthen the already strong bond between them.

On his part, the Nigerian Speaker, Hon. Gbajabialamila agreed with his Ghanaian counterpart on the good relations between the two nations and hoped that at the end of his two-day visit a good resolution will be found to the issues confronting both Ghana and Nigeria, bearing in mind the national interests of the individual countries.

The meeting between the two speakers has been necessitated by the ongoing tensions between Ghanaian and Nigerian traders in Suame magazine and Circle in Kumasi and Accra and the demolition of the property within the Nigerian High Commission in June.
