GHANA- Monday, July 20, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ A police officer with the Counter-Terrorism Directorate was shot dead on Sunday, July 19, 2020. The Police Service in a Facebook post said the deceased, Abdul Rashid, died at his residence in Abeka Lapaz, Accra after being inflicted with gunshot wounds.
“The incident which occurred on Sunday, July 19, is under investigation to unravel the circumstances leading to his death and who killed him.”
According to the Police, the said Pistol used in shooting the deceased Officer is in Police custody.
21-year-old Shakir Nasir, sister of the deceased, who until his passing resided with him, was present at the time of the incident. She is currently in police custody assisting with the ongoing investigations.
The Ghana National Counter-terrorism Framework is to provide Ghana with a comprehensive policy framework for preventing and combating future terrorist acts.
The counter-terrorism unit aims to detect and deter a terrorist threat, to protect vulnerable infrastructures and spaces and respond to mitigate the impact and recover from terrorist incidents.
