Primary suspect of Kafaba lynching arrested

Primary suspect of the lynching that leads to the death of a 90-year old woman has been nabbed by the police.

The victim, Akua Denteh was lynched by persons who alleged she was a witch. According to persons living in the Kafaba community, a soothsayer in the community made this claim and spearheaded the act.

Following her death, five persons have been arrested and held at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Savannah Regional Police Command at Damongo on Wednesday, 29th July, 2020.

The suspects will be on remand for the next three weeks and have been charged with conspiracy to murder.

The chief of Kafaba, Zackaria Yahaya was also questioned by the police on the issue.

Police had put up a GHC 2000 rewards for persons who had any information on the suspects of the lynching.

In a new developmwnt, the primary suspect of the incident has been arrested by the Police surveillance team at Abrumase.

The name of the arrested suspect is still unknown.

The president, Nana Akufo Addo in his tour of the Savannah region condemned the act and expressed pleasure at the arrest of the suspects.

“I am happy that the Regional Minister says five people have been arrested and will be arraigned. I beg you. We do not want to hear of such an incident again,” he said.
