AP: How does the whole project benefit Ghana and Africa?

DR: In physics, Newton talks about the law of gravity. We think that is not true but can only be proven with the help of the Square Kilometer Array. There are a lot of projects that the SKA will be used for.

There’s a place in Kwahu where we’ll build an array of telescopes on a 30-kilometer land where the real science will happen.

Another component that we’ll have here is also the weather station where we’ll be able to advise people on the weather. We’ll even build a science and training research centre which will also serve as a data centre. Even in 500 years, information on the weather will be able to be retrieved.

For example, we can detect climate change precisely by recording the weather daily for 500 years
