GHANA- Wednesday, July 15, 2020,/ https://africanpostonline.com/ Family of the 28-year-old man who was stabbed to death has given the police a two-week deadline to bring the perpetrators to book or they “will not be held accountable for what comes next”.

The victim, who was a new graduate from the Akim Oda Teacher Training College was attacked yesterday, July 14, 2020, and stabbed to death at Tabei in the Bono region amidst registrations disturbances by persons alleged to be NDC and NPP supporters.

Speaking to Starr News, the grandmother of the victim said that if the Bono regional police fail to nab the culprits in two weeks, they would take action.

“The young man who was murdered is my grandson. When we went to the police, a witness came along to testify, so the police are aware, we are not doing politics. If the police don’t arrest the murderer in two weeks we will not be responsible for what comes next” she stated.

She further claimed that since the incident happened, police have not made any progress to arrest the culprits.

“Since we went to make our case we have not heard from the police. The witness was in the car when my grandson was being beaten to death. And so we are expecting the police to act as soon as possible, else we will not be held accountable for what comes next,” she explained.

The young man was known as non-partisan and a peacemaker. Residents say he was referred to as “Osofo” due to his calm nature.

According to the family, on the day of the murder, he was only returning home from a visit to his pastor at the Wenchi Methodist Church.
The Bono police command says however that the pathologist expected to conduct an autopsy on the victim is expected soon in the region from Kumasi.

Meanwhile, Security Expert and Head of the Department of Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Accra, Professor Kwesi Aning has said that the act was a result of vigilante groups.

There have been several agitations caused by vigilante groups in the country over some time. The two major parties in Ghana, the NPP and NDC have been called out to advise their members to prevent future occurrences. The Ayawaso West Wuogon bye-elections were characterized by such acts.
